So a really short one for yesterday so I can catch up and get a really good blog done for day 7 as a lot happens on day 7!
Chris and Alan were still the dream team and it was all looking a bit brokeback ultra! Chris and Alan had some special moments in the dark with a a threesome including Henry who had come out to meet the guys and show them a good time on the town.
One kebab later in Cirencester and Chris was smitten. Thanks for the support Henry I know they appreciated it a lot.
They slowed down quite a bit with Alan feeling very tired at stages and even crashing out on the grass for an impromptu sleep with Chris sneaking in a selfie!
They kept moving though and as the day got warmer and warmer they eventually got to the CP after lunch time very tired. We fed and watered them and put them to bed. Then Chris dropped the bombshell that he wanted separate tents. He claimed it was for Alan’s snoring but I think he just had had enough and we thought it was over. A sad day.
At 10 pm however they woke and it was all smiles again and the bromance was back on! Off they went onto the sunset holding hands………
Lee was still just under a leg behind but was still moving and in good spirits. He was feeling it a little and was tired and sleepy and his feet were bothering him some. He had a couple of nap breaks and met a couple of local runners who buddy ran with him which was a great help for his morale. Especially Kev and Anne. He was still in his pants which would have frightened many a kid if they saw him!
As everyone was out on the course and we had for the first time worked our way back to almost normal light/dark cycle we decided to take turns in monitoring trackers and phones and get some proper much needed rest to refresh our minds.
Another valiant day by all and the distance so far is no mean feet.
As they came down to Bristol on the leg they bumped into Bruce Ballagher who I knew from Spine and had popped down and parked on the side of the road and set up an impromtu check point and helped the runners out especially on such a warm flay and it was very much appreciated Bruce.
On that note I will end this one except for….. Saying thanks to all watching and all the runners so far.
Epic to watch and witness.
