GUCR pre race ramblings

Just a  few quick thoughts in the compulsory pre race blog.

Tomorrow at 6am I will be starting the GUCR race in Gas Street in Birmingham and running/walking/crawling all the way to Little Venice in London and have to be there by 11pm Sunday night.
Its a flat towpath all the way with a few sections through villages or over tunnels and a really pretty route.

It is however a really tough race and usually only about 50% or less finish. Especially if the weather is pants.

I have finished this race once before and have last year as a DNF at 100 miles, this year I would like to beat my previous time of 38 hours 49 minutes. I have A, B and C targets for this race.

A race: 32 hours if the wheels stay on and I have a perfect race.

B race: Sub 36 hours and it will still be a PB

C race: Finish wheels have come off and bits of me are falling off but I will hobble to the end.

If you are interested in Following my or anyone elses progress then the Twitter hashtag is #GUCR and my crew will be tweeting as well as myself now and again

Better finish loading the car now and head off to Brum to meet all the guys and girls running for the obligitorty meal in O’Neils before the race.

See you on the other side…
