Scott Kinibalu Trail Shoes

Recently I bough some Scott Kinibalu’s in the search for a really good light trail shoe with cushioning but having a rock plate and has to drain well. Something that works on all surfaces including trails, mud and on tarmac as I have shoes that work on those seperatley but not a great all round shoe. After reading many reviews and looking around I decided to try these out.

If I were honest they were calling to me slightly on account of the bright colours, I do like a nice shiny trainer. Suppose I better say how they actually perform when you run.

Fit: I had heard they come up a bit narrow so made sure I went for 10.5 rather than a  10 and they fit fine with a nice snug fit on the sides and plenty of space on the toebox to spread out. A nice touch is the little bit of elastic to park the laces under and stop the laces flapping about and catching on stuff.

Grip: The grip works well and is comfy for road running and feels like I could run long distances on the road ok and it works reall well on hard dry trails. I have not really tested it in really slippy mud but the small bits I have found it seems to cope reasaonably well. I have done about 50 miles in these now and they are my current favorite shoe to run in on trails.

They have a rocker sole that they call e-ride which is similar to the feel of the Hoka’s where they are curved on the sole and encorage you to strilke more midfoot and roll forwards to help your natural motion and they feel like they do that. I have not run any more than 15ish miles in them in one go yet so will post back when I have done a longer run in them. I have not got them really wet or muddy yet but expect them to drain really well due to the drainage holes in the sole front and back on each side to allow water straight out.
