I have managed to get a confirmed place in Caesars Camp 100 miler at the end of October. This will be my third attempt at 100 miles and hopefully I will crack it this time. It is a lapped 10 mile course so I can run light and have support available at the start/ finish and half way round the course. It starts at 12 midday and I have 30 hours to complete the distance. Although not quite as hilly as Lakeland it is still very hilly at 1500ish ft of hills per lap!
I have not had as much as a niggle out of my knee since Lakeland so hopefully that is strong again and stands the test.
Regards my weight I had targeted 15st by the 15th but only got down to 15st 3lb so still over 1lb a week but could do better, I will keep the target of 15st but extend it till by the end of the month which should be do able.
I have no real plan for Caesars camp apart from try to do each lap in less that 2hrs 30mins and see what happens as the race goes on, I would love to do it sub 24 but any finish would be great. Just to put the hilly 100mile demons to sleep.
This coming weekend I have the JW Ultra which is a 30miler along the canal from Stratford to Birmingham. This should be a good test of my knee and my speed over a short ultra. I will be aiming for about 4:30ish.
Me and Sue marshalled at the Round Norfolk Relay this morning from 3am – 6am and it was nice to help out and see my club go through the checkpoint, even though our runner was slightly late and wasted some of the time the previous runner had made up.
We had a few run in’s with people who seemed to think it was sensible to stand in the road and obstruct cars or warm up on the road with no lights or high viz!
I had a particular confrontation with an idiot from Tiptree Runners who got upset and verbally abusive when asked to move off the road. Twat!
Looking forward to keeping the mileage up for the rest of the year, to achieve my target of 2250 miles ran this year I now need to avarage 49 miles a week!
This will be hard as my new role at work means more hours during the week and harder to plan my training but I will adjust my schedule and work around it.
Just ticking the miles of and the rest will come.
