Ramblings and Plans

I have been thinking about where I go with my plans for next year after my failure at Lakeland 100, I had intended to complete it his year and move on but now I am not sure if I need to go back again next year and put it to bed so to speak.

My original plan for 2012 was:

Viking Way (147miles) in early April
GUCR (145miles) at the end of May
Kent 50 (52.4) in July

Then a good couple of Months training for Spartathlon in September.

I am inclined to stick with this schedule as Sparta is my real long term goal and I think this plan would give me a really good chance at it.

And Lakeland 100 will be there another year.

BUT I really don’t like having a DNF on my books as I think it affects you psychologically ?

feel free to let me know yor thoughts…

My Plans for the rest of the year are to go on holiday at the weekend with the family and once I get back  to get back into serious regular mileage and get myself fit again for JW ultra in September (30miles) and Caesers Camp (100miles) in October.

Another big target is to really reduce my weight before next year, I always hover around 14.5-15 stone if I just eat normally and I really need to drop down to sub 13.5 stone if I want to take up this long distance stuff seriously, stupidity and stubbornness will only get me so far!

First Long run planned for today since Lakeland and once I get home from work (where I am now) I will have breakkie and get out and do it. My legs are tired from a long off road ride on my Mountain bike yesterday so we will see how they enjoy trying to run 18+ miles.

It may take a while…

  1. Hi Lindley,Sounds like you and I have similar goals for next year, both in terms of races and weight goals. I retired from the LL100 too so will definitely be back next year to deal with Unfinished Business and I did have half a mind to aim for Spartathlon too but that's up in the air as I may leave it until 2013. Anyway, great blog and see you on the trails!

  2. Hi TD, of course you may use my blog.I may do the 50 as a training run next year before Sparta but would not recover in time If I do the 100 although I really want to complete it.Happy running
