Coast to Coast Day 7

It was a nice early start as we managed to get a nice early 7am breakfast.
We had John back on the trail before Reeth and ready to smash in a big day on the trails. The schedule had 29 miles on the plan and with around 6 miles still owed by previous days it was going to be a long one!
John set off on flat easy to manage terrain with little navigation to worry about. Just following a trace on his watch. John though tired got a good walk/run on and managed to cover some good miles by lunchtime and was making up time easily. He had had one major disaster at the start of the day though!
He had left his shower puff at the previous nights hotel! This was disastrous and he was distraught. Being a tough Yorkshireman there is no way he could survive the rest of the trip without his showerpuff! We would have to try to replace it at sometime.
Back to the run, we met John just before the Cleveland Hills and I joined him and started to run/walk with him on the Cleveland way and up onto the moors and hills at Lordstones and Wainstones. It was a little chilly at the top and the temperature had dropped and we had to put on coats. The weather was still great and slightly overcast but dry. The paths were steep and rough in places but we cracked on a good pace living on wine gums and chocolate digestives and between what John did in the morning and what I did with him he put in a stellar 26+ miles. That was a great effort on very tired legs.

We met Maxine at a road crossing when coming down between two large moors. Road access is limited so unless we stopped here it was going to be another significant load of miles to a meeting place again. John was tired now and it was the right time to stop.

The end was in sight and we managed to see the sea from one of the high points today which was a big bonus! It meant the end was in sight.

We went off to the hotel and got a decent night’s sleep and a good meal to fortify us for the last day of the challenge.

Onto day 8 and the final push.
