So its been quite a while since I posted on my blog. I have been busy and blogging was not top of my priority list.
I have just this evening updated the titles of all my blog pages to bring them together into the www.challenge-running.co.uk fold so to speak.
All the blogs now have Challenge Running in the Title.
There is a blog for Kit reviews of Kit I have used and tested, One of my training that I have done recently and another with race reports from Challenge Running events. All accessed from the bar above.
Over the last 3 years Challenge Running has grown from 1 race in 2011 to 13 races planned so far for 2015. I now have races from 10k – 133mile epic trail races, low key friendly events for runners of all abilities. Races that offer a real challenge to all levels of runners.
The races have built up steadily and now take up so much of my time on evenings and weekend that I have decided to stop working for the Fire Service and try to see if I can make this event organising lark a paying job. I really enjoy putting on great events and getting the feedback from runners who have enjoyed the events or achieved an ambition to run a certain distance. So as of April the 10th I will be unemployed and working for myself.

Just like reviving this blog I am throwing myself into setting the business up to grow and pay this year and take care of me and my family during the transition.
I still have a lot to learn and it will be very strange after 12 years in the Fire Service and a very secure job and guaranteed salary.

It will be a tough period to start as I try to adjust into it but its also very exciting and challenging in many ways. I would not be able to put on as many races in 2015 if I tried to continue with both at this level. I enjoy my work with the Fire Service but it would also be fantastic to be able to make running my business and my hobby. It will also help with my own personal fitness as I have just had too little time and motivation to spend enough time training for my own events while I am so busy with full time work and the business. This should give me the time to build up my own fitness again as I can allocate more time to my own running. This should get me back to where I should be and back a good standard of running ability.

I have had my car covered with logos as mobile advertising to increase my presence and promote the business. I think they look great and really stand out. Also don’t think its funny to say the number plate is missing a “N”!
I have just had agreement from a campsite in Norfolk to hold a couple of Marathons along the coastal path so another couple of races to release soon.

None of this would be possible without the
support of my family and friends. Plus a great team of volunteers who come along to help at my events. The events are made by the people running and the people who help make the runners feel like heroes. Also the help from www.ultramarathonrunningstore.com who sponsor my events and have been a huge support over the years.
So this blog will become a fairly regular feature and a way of tracking my progress and update the results of my setting out on my own and whether or not I need to find my local soup kitchen to eat or not!
Please feel free to comment.

Good luck with this. Brave decision which I'm sure will be the right one. See you on Sunday for St Peters. Cheers
How exciting. Good luck Lindley.
Good luck mate…. I really hope you make it work as I know you care about the events you put on and we're always free to help 🙂
