Last minute ramblings.

Tonight I pick up Sue from work in an hour or so and we head up to Hull. Tomorrow I am running in the Viking Way Ultra a mega hard 147.8 miles across Lincolnshire starting at the foot of the Humber bridge and finishing at the Library in Oakham. The cut off’s are tight too with the whole distance to be covered in only 40 hours. It was a mudfest last year too.
I was beaten by this last year and stopped just before 80 miles with a niggle in my knee and no fight left in me to cover the next 70ish miles in pain. This year I’m back to do battle and defeat the beast plus the medal if fecking awesome!
Wish me luck. If you are interested then the twitter feed is @VikingwayUltra or follow my twitter @firemannotsam.

In other news I really enjoyed helping out Paul Ali finish the Thames Path 100 last weekend in a fantastic time of 22:26. Despite some really pants weather. I will blog more on this later but feel free to find Pauls blog and read about it. www.ultraavon.com

Last bit of info, A few months ago whe I was at the outdoors show and wandering round the bike section with Sue trying all the energy foods and we came across the TORQ stand and I quite liked the taste of their bars and gels. Having loads of gels at home we did not buy any but a couple of weeks later I saw somwhere that TORQ were looking to build a trail running team and were not just targetting elite runners so I though I would enter for a laugh. I had to fill an application online with details of what I have done and future plans etc. To my surprise I got sent a request for further info and sent details of when the assesment days were to be. So I again replied not expecting that an overweight middle of the pack Ultra Runner would even get an invite to the selection day. To my surprise I have been invted to the second selection day on April 13th which I am really looking forward to but will be going to the day with no expectations just to meet some great runners and enjoy the experience.

Right time to get my arse in gear and leave for Hull.

See you on the other side 😉
